A rotary switch is a switch operated by rotation. These are often chosen when more than 2 positions are needed. A rotary switch consists of a spindle or “rotor” that has a contact arm or “spoke” which projects from its surface like a cam. It has an array of terminals, arranged in a circle around the rotor, each of which serves as a contact for the “spoke” through which any one of a number of different electrical circuits can be connected to the rotor. The switch is layered to allow the use of multiple poles; each layer is equivalent to one pole. Alternatively the rotation can be limited to a fraction (half; third etc.) of a circle and then each layer can have multiple (two; three etc.) poles.

2/3 Step Push Button Switch Product Introduction
This 2/3 step push button switch has a knob, also called a knob switch. The mounting hole is 22 mm. We can make 1NO1NC or 2NO2NC.1NO1NC is a 3-pin model, and 2NO2NC is a 6-pin model.
What is the rotation 2 step push button switch?
A rotating 2 step push button switch can be used to replace the rotary pulse generator that mimics the function of traditional resistance potentiometers. These rotating 2 step push button switches are generally used in the front panel of the instrument and the man-machine interface of the audio-visual control panel. The rotary buttons are orthogonal. Optical encoders are used as pure digital devices instead of imitating potentiometers. These rotary 2 step push button switches are similar in appearance to traditional or resistive potentiometers, but the internal structure of these rotary buttons is completely digital and uses optical skills. Similar to traditional incremental encoder products, there are two quadrature output signals (channel A and channel B), which can be directly connected to the encoder processing chip.
